​​LOOK BACK - By onay pl. x Wei-Fang Chang

​LOOK BACK is a video installation with two screens, two cameras, and a gown-like fabric sculpture wound with cables.

​Through this deliberate misalignment of screens and live feeds, the piece explores how digital imagery governs the body's movements in a disorienting loop of self-perception.

​Only by crouching can viewers encounter themselves, watching their own body from the back, from the outside, and from within the installation all at once.

About

Hidden inside One to 13 Studio, a working fashion atelier in the heart of New York’s Garment District, onay pl. is a creative platform and community space for artists, designers, and creatives - a place to share ideas, experiment, connect, and spark new possibilities.

Story

The idea for Onay pl. first came to founder Nay Huang about five years into running One to 13 Studio. Every day, we were surrounded by designers and their creativity, helping bring someone else’s ideas to life.

At some point, Nay started thinking: What about our own ideas? What could One to 13 become beyond making? 



When the studio’s lease was coming to an end, Nay started looking for a new home, somewhere that could be both a working fashion atelier and a gallery. The idea was there, but the right space wasn’t. Nothing quite fit the vision or the budget.



Two years later, finally happened
